Cables and wire are responsible to connect one device to the other. But with the advanced technology, the wireless transfer has become quite popular because of its ease. Initially, devices were connected via a cable to transfer files, folders, data, etc. but with the advent of wireless technologies, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. have become popular.
Data cable installation is quite necessary for the smooth flow of work. Wireless connectivity has certain requirements to transfer data from one place to another. But in places where wireless connectivity is not a viable option, the need for data cable installation arises. Ethernet cables are quite popular for data transfer or providing internet facilities in-house.
Various types of data cable installation take place according to the requirement of the users. Devices with wireless signal do not need pulling of cables. Data cables are required to provide the output from one device to the other devices. With the electrical wire, these Ethernet cables also run behind the wall or under the ground. Ethernet points are made in the switchboards so that one can put the Wi-Fi router or connect the PC or laptop from those points.
Types of Data Cable Installation
Cables are the only medium through which information can be transferred from one networking device to another. There are many types of data cables which are used in LAN ports and cabling. At the base, there are mainly two wire types used in cables which are Copper and Fiber. These two main types can be further divided into three categories namely Twisted pair cables, Coaxial cables, and Fiber optic cables. Data cable installation is based on these types of cables.
Twisted Pair Cables
Twisted cables consist of two wires and each of them has plastic covering over them. One wire is responsible for signal and the other is for ground reference. The twists in the wires are helpful in protecting the data communication without a drop in signal. These twisted pair cables have two types:
• Unshielded Twisted pair cables (UTP)
• Shielded Twisted pair cables (STP)
The only difference between the two cable types is that the STP cables have a metal covering over the wires, which are absent in UTP cables. UTP cables are mostly used in data cable installation. UTP cables have different cable qualities and are divided into seven categories. CAT 3 and CAT 5e are the two most widely used categories by telecom companies for voice and data transfer, respectively. These cables follow the ISO and IEC quality standards and for installation, they need to fulfill these standards. Internationally, ISO standards are worldwide acceptable.
Coaxial Cables
These cables are of high-frequency and are mostly used in old computers. The cable has a main core conductor wire which is insulated. These wires are used for data cable installation in digital telephone companies. This cable uses a special type of connector called BNC connector. These cables have Radio Government (RG) rating and Ethernet cables follow these.
Fibre Optic Cables
It is a widely used cable and many telecommunication companies are switching to these types of cables for data cable installation. These cables are lightweight and have mainly two parts, one is core and the other is cladding. The biggest advantages of the cable are being lightweight, it does not have a signal dropping problem. There are two types of connectors used in these cables, SC connectors which used by cable operators and ST connectors used by network service operators. Fiber optic cables do not have electromagnetic interferences and have higher bandwidth.

Data cables are an integral part of the network and telecommunication industry. With advancement in technologies, better cables are supporting advanced data cable installation. The latest and the widely used cables are the fiber optic and most of the telecommunication companies are switching to it.
