Like any other system in your home, a ductwork system is crucial for making your home equipment functioning properly, especially if you own HVAC equipment. These systems filter the air and send all the harmful and heated air outside your home. As a result, you get better health and environment to live in your house.

Let us now discuss in detail a few roles played by the ductwork systems in general:
Air conditioners: We all know that ACs act by the process termed as thermal transfer, that is, they absorb the heat gradually from the room they are installed in and eventually the air turns cold. They also comprise of coolant in the same way these are present in car engines to keep them cold. Special ducts referred to as evaporation ducts and condensation ducts are also present to increase the area of transfer of heat in case of an air conditioner.
Vehicles: Apart from heating and cooling appliances, vehicles are something that is filled with ductwork systems. The engine of the car is made of several wires which function in releasing the heated air from the car and keeping the inside cool using a coolant. If the ductwork system in a car fails to function properly, the vehicle may get unusually heated up and can also lead to accidents and burns. Thus, it is of utmost importance to keep the ducts and wires inside the vehicle completely under check and take them for maintenance from time to time.
How to take care of your ductwork systems?
It is better to call for an experienced technician to examine your ductwork systems and do not go for DIY skills. In the case of a vehicle, it is advisable to go to a known service centre rather than calling a local mechanic who does not have much experience. They might charge less from you but can cause more harm to your vehicle than good. Some common maintenance techniques of your ductwork system are discussed below:
Sometimes the filter which is used for extracting the heat and dust from the room may not be functioning properly and only an expert can suggest you whether cleaning is sufficient or complete replacement is necessary.
Apart from the filters, the evaporation ducts and condenser may also get heavily blocked with dust and dirt particles and deep cleaning is mandatory.
Sometimes, there can be leakages in you ductwork systems from where cool air can escape thus increasing a load of your air conditioners or air coolers to cool the room, thereby increasing your electricity bills. Hence, finding out those leaks and sealing them becomes mandatory and only an expert can do that. Sealing holes in ducts can also reduce the entry of insects and other small animals into the system, thereby protecting your device.
If you experience a decrease in the flow of air from your devices such as air conditioners or heaters, it might not always necessarily mean that the devices are not working properly. Sometimes the issue can be as simple as the closing of the dampers which might have occurred by mistake.
Sometimes the entry of an insect or animal into the system and their subsequent decomposition may turn into terrible odour coming out of your ductwork systems whenever you turn on the device which may eventually lead to their damage. So, whenever you face such issues, it is better to call the technician at once.
Ductwork systems are immensely important for keeping many devices working properly and these should be checked from time to time so that they can function for a longer period of time.
